Welcome
A message from the Director, Paul Baragwanath
“Kāhui St David’s is here for you. “Kāhui” means “the gathering”, and that’s what it’s here for. For people to gather here to celebrate, commemorate, create, connect and inspire.
It’s here for special events and memorable experiences, and as a place where everyone feels at home.
What is the building? It was formerly a Presbyterian Church, built as “a living memorial” after World War One. It’s now owned by a charitable trust to see it serve the whole community. It is still a living memorial, which means it continues to honour the memory of those whose lives were taken or affected by war, and their hopes for a better future for others.
The programmes we generate in-house support the performing arts, and are designed to connect, inspire and uplift. A core value of Kāhui St David’s is celebration. When we celebrate together, we feel connected.
For bookings for special events, conferences, weddings, and funerals, we encourage you to engage a musician for your event, to support musical careers.
Whatever your background and interest in Kāhui St David’s, we look forward to hearing from you.”
